A two-run homer by Ted Simmons in the top of the ninth inning lifted the Brewers to a 5-4 triumph over the Red Sox. Milwaukee trailed, 4-3, when Cecil Cooper was hit by a pitch to open the ninth. After Cooper was forced at second on a grounder by Ben Oglivie, Simmons connected for the circuit. The Sox had gone ahead in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run homer by Joe Rudi.
