. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The White Sox spoiled Gene Mauch's debut as manager of California by whitewashing the Angels, 9-0, behind the three-hit hurling of Richard Dotson. The Sox scored in the first inning on a run-scoring single by Carlton Fisk and blew the game open with a six-run third frame with the help of errors by first baseman Rod Carew, shortstop Rick Burleson and catcher Ed Ott. Greg Luzinski drilled a two-run homer in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
