George Foster and Ron Oester knocked in three runs apiece to pace the Reds to a 9-1 thumping of the Dodgers while handing Burt Hooton his first loss after seven victories. The Reds tallied twice in their first turn at bat on run-scoring singles by Dave Concepcion and Foster, and added another marker in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Oester.

An error by Dodgers shortstop Pepe Frias gave the Reds a run in the fifth, and Oester delivered an RBI single in the sixth and a sacrifice fly in the eighth following a triple by Joe Nolan. Foster wrapped up the scoring with a two-run homer in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
