Recording his sixth straight victory and eighth complete game, Jack Morris pitched the Tigers to a 4-1 triumph over the Orioles. The Tigers scored in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Champ Summers and picked up another marker in the second frame on a run-scoring single by Alan Trammell.
