After rallying for five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 6-6, the Red Sox pushed across a run in the 10th frame to shade the Brewers, 7-6. Jim Rice led off the Sox 10th with a single, reached second when losing pitcher Rollie Fingers bobbled Joe Rudi's sacrifice bunt for an error, went to third when Carney Lansford flied out to right and scored on a single by Dave Stapleton.

A three-run homer by Dwight Evans was the big blow in the Sox ninth. After two runs were in on a run-scoring single by Lansford and RBI infield out by Jerry Remy, Fingers came in with two on and two out to face Evans and served up a gopher ball. [The Sporting News]
