. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Angels and White Sox split a doubleheader, the Angels winning the opener, 7-4, for Gene Mauch's first victory as California manager, and the Pale Hose capturing the nightcap, 2-1 in 10 innings. Juan Beniquez, batting only .169 and with just one RBI entering the game, drove in four runs to spark the Angels' triumph in the lidlifter. Beniquez drove in two tallies with a bases-loaded double in the second inning and added a two-run single in the fifth frame.

The second contest was tied, 1-1, when Mike Squires led off the Chicago 10th with a walk and came home with the winning run when Carlton Fisk followed with a two-bagger to left field. [The Sporting News]
