A two-run homer by Dave Revering in the 11th inning lifted the Yankees to a 5-3 triumph over the Orioles. Rick Cerone began the bottom of the 11th with a single and went to second on a sacrifice by Graig Nettles. Revering then unloaded his first round-tripper as a member of the Yankees.

The Orioles had loaded the bases in the top of the 11th with none out but failed to score. The Yanks had manufactured the deadlock in the bottom of the ninth on a walk to Dave Winfield, single by Reggie Jackson and RBI single by Nettles. [The Sporting News]
