Pete Rose banged out two triples, drove in three runs and his three hits raised his career total to 3,621, only nine behind Stan Musial's all-time N.L. record, as the Phillies posted a 9-7 decision over the Mets. The game was tied, 6-6, going into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Phils moved ahead to stay as Larry Bowa singled, moved to third on a single by Bob Boone and scored on an RBI groundout by Rose.
