A three-run homer by Wayne Gross in the first inning triggered the A's to an 8-3 triumph over the White Sox.  The round-tripper followed a leadoff single by Rickey Henderson and a walk to Dwayne Murphy. The A's tallied in the fourth frame on an RBI infield out by Henderson and in the fifth on a run-scoring single by Cliff Johnson. Brian Kingman spaced seven hits in a route-going performance.
