Dale Berra's bloop single scored Lee Lacy, who had tripled, and enabled the Pirates to overcome the Cubs, 5-4 in 10 innings. Dave Parker drove in three runs for the Bucs with a homer and single. Bobby Bonds, making his first appearance with the Cubs after being acquired from the Rangers' organization, suffered a broken little finger on his right hand when he fell trying to make a catch in the first inning.
