Jorge Orta drove in four runs and Len Barker tossed a five-hitter as the Indians defeated the Mariners, 8-1. Orta scored the Tribe's first run in the opening frame when he doubled and tallied on a single by Andre Thornton.

Orta capped a three-run second with a sacrifice fly, singled in two runs in the fourth and delivered an RBI grounder in the eighth. Barker, recording his sixth straight complete game, lowered his league-leading ERA to 1.82. [The Sporting News]
