Bill Madlock smashed a tie-breaking homer in the sixth inning as the Pirates edged the Giants, 3-2. The Bucs scored twice in the first inning when Lee Lacy reached first on a two-out error by third baseman Enos Cabell, Madlock walked and Mike Easler drilled a two-run double.
