Gaylord Perry gained credit for his 295th career victory as the Braves downed the Padres, 5-1. Atlanta took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Bob Horner and boosted their margin to 3-0 in the second on a two-run triple by Rufino Linares. An error by San Diego third baseman Luis Salazar gave the Braves a run in the fifth frame and Atlanta got a ninth-inning tally on a run-scoring single by Glenn Hubbard. [The Sporting News]
