Tom Griffin scattered six hits in 8 1/3 innings in pitching the Giants to a 3-2 victory over the Astros. The veteran righthander came within two outs of becoming the first hurler to toss a complete game since the strike. He was taken out in the ninth after a one-out double by Jose Cruz.
