Tim Raines doubled home Phillips and Rodney Scott walked to load the bases.

Victor Cruz relieved Luis Tiant on the hill for the Pirates and Dawson hit the first pitch for his first career grand slam. Gary Carter hit the next pitch for another round-tripper. Immediately after the game, Cruz was sent to the minor leagues. [The Sporting News]
