Homers by Jody Davis and Jerry Morales powered the Cubs to a 6-1 triumph over the Mets. Davis blasted a three-run round-tripper in the fourth inning with Steve Henderson on base via a walk and Bobby Bonds aboard via a single.

Steve Dillard led off Chicago's fifth with a triple and scored on a pinch-homer by Morales. Doug Bird, making his first start since being acquired from the Yankees for Rick Reuschel, received credit for the victory. [The Sporting News]
