The Cardinals downed the Expos, 3-1, to win their first game in Montreal this season and only their second triumph in Canada over a two-year span covering 13 games. Sixto Lezcano drove in two runs and newcomer Joaquin Andujar hurled five strong innings to raise his career record against Montreal to 8-0.

Lezcano drilled a solo homer in the second inning and received credit for an RBI in the fourth when Montreal shortstop Chris Speier failed to come up with his hot smash with runners on first and third. A sacrifice fly by Gene Tenace produced the final Redbird run. Bruce Sutter pitched the last two innings to notch his 14th save. [The Sporting News]
