A three-run homer by Kirk Gibson climaxed a four-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning that lifted the Tigers to a 5-4 triumph over the Yankees. Ironically, Gibson was in the game only because Ricky Peters had been ejected for arguing a strike call in the previous inning. Gibson's blow came with one one out after a pair of walks and a run-scoring single by Bill Fahey. [The Sporting News]
