The Orioles handed the Angels their fourth straight defeat, 6-5. The Birds scored three times in the second frame on a single by John Lowenstein, two-bagger by Doug DeCinces, two-run double by Gary Roenicke and an RBI single by Mark Belanger. DeCinces singled home Ken Singleton with a third-inning run.

Bobby Grich stroked an RBI single in the first inning, extending his hitting streak to 20 games, longest in the A.L. this year. Scott McGregor struggled through 6 1/3 innings to get his seventh straight victory, although he needed a save from Sammy Stewart. [The Sporting News]
