Combining on a six-hitter, Ron Guidry and George Frazier pitched the Yankees past the White Sox, 4-0. The shutout was the eighth by the Yankees' staff this year and all have been combined.

The Yanks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an infield single by Willie Randolph, sacrifice by Jerry Mumphrey and a triple by Bob Watson. Mumphrey singled home two runs in the seventh and Oscar Gamble doubled home the final run in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
