A three-run homer by Gary Carter in the top of the 11th inning carried the Expos to a 4-1 decision over the Braves. The score was 1-1 when Mike Phillips opened the 11th with a single and was forced at second by Tim Raines, who was attempting to sacrifice.

Raines then stole second and Rodney Scott grounded out. Andre Dawson was given an intentional walk but Carter ruined the strategy by clouting a 3-1 pitch into the seats in left-center field. [The Sporting News]
