. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Pirates swept a doubleheader from the Padres, winning the first game, 4-2, and taking the second contest, 3-2. The Bucs scored in the first inning of the opener when Dave Parker belted a three-run homer after a walk to Omar Moreno and a single by Tim Foli. Bill Madlock doubled home the Bucs' final run in the seventh. Rick Rhoden, going 8 1/3 innings, boosted his record to 7-1.

Three different players drove in one run each to lead the Bucs to victory in the nightcap. A run-scoring single by Madlock produced a first-inning tally, a groundout by Bill Robinson drove home a third-inning run and an RBI double by Jason Thompson accounted for the final Pittsburgh run in the seventh.
