The Expos and Braves divided a twin bill, the Expos winning the first game, 5-4, and the Braves capturing the nightcap, 9-1. A five-run sixth inning was decisive in the opener. Andre Dawson led off that frame by reachng second on an error by Atlanta third baseman Bob Horner and scored on a single by Gary Carter. After Warren Cromartie singled, John Milner blasted a three-run homer to give the Expos a 4-3 lead. A sacrifice fly by Rodney Scott later in the inning scored the final run.

Horner, who had two homers in the losing effort in the opener, drove in three runs to pace the Braves in the second game. He put Atlanta ahead, 1-0, with an RBI single in the first inning and added a two-run single in the second.
