Scott McGregor outdueled Ken Forsch and Doug DeCinces belted his second grand slam homer of the season in the eighth inning to help the Orioles trim the Angels, 6-2. The deciding run came in the seventh when Jim Dwyer singled, advanced to second on Rick Dempsey's sacrifice, reached third on Terry Crowley's groundout and scored on an infield hit by Al Bumbry.
