California scored twice in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Bobby Grich and a wild pitch, and added another marker in the eighth on a run-scoring single by Don Baylor.

Don Aase entered the game with the bases loaded and none out in the ninth and retired Dave Stapleton on a popout and Rich Gedman on an RBI groundout before getting Joe Rudi on a groundout to end the game. [The Sporting News]
