A single by Eddie Murray in the bottom of the 11th inning plated the winning run as the Orioles edged the Mariners, 3-2. After Seattle took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 11th on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Lenny Randle, the Birds got a break in the bottom of the frame when Doug DeCinces reached second on a double error by Seattle shortstop Jim Anderson.

DeCinces took third as Rick Dempsey grounded out and scored on Benny Ayala's single. Al Bumbry, attempting to sacrifice, forced Ayala at second. A single by Lenn Sakata sent Bumbry to third and a walk to Ken Singleton loaded the bases. Murray then blooped a checked-swing single to left to end the game. [The Sporting News]
