Homers by Jack Clark and Larry Herndon powered the Giants to a 10-inning 3-2 victory over the Cubs. Herndon clouted a two-run round-tripper in the sixth with Darrell Evans aboard via a walk to tie the game at 2-2, and Clark connected for the circuit with two out and the bases empty in the bottom of the 10th to produce the game-winner. The Cubs had loaded the bases with none out in the top of the 10th but Giants' reliever Al Holland struck out pinch-hitter Steve Henderson and Bobby Bonds on six consecutive pitches and retired Ivan DeJesus on a soft fly to right to end the threat.
