The Pirates swept a doubleheader from the Mets, 2-1 and 5-4. The Bucs prevailed in the first game when Willie Montanez clouted a pinch-homer in the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie.

The Mets took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning of the second game on a two-run homer by Lee Mazzilli, but the Pirates came back in the bottom of the frame on a run-scoring pinch-single by Willie Stargell and Omar Moreno's RBI single. [The Sporting News]
