. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A two-run double by Chris Chambliss in the ninth inning gave the Braves a 3-2 triumph over the Astros. Atlanta trailed, 2-1, going into the bottom of the ninth when leadoff batter Claudell Washington was hit by a pitch. After Billy Smith replaced Joe Sambito on the hill for Houston, Washington reached second on a single by Bob Horner, who was taken out for pinch-runner Eddie Miller. Chambliss then hit a line drive up the left-center alley to score both runners.

Houston first baseman Cesar Cedeno, incensed at something a spectator shouted at him from the stands after he struck out in the first inning, went into the stands and scuffled with a fan. He was immediately ejected from the game. [The Sporting News]
