A two-run pinch-double by Kent Hrbek iin the bottom of the ninth inning climaxed a four-run rally that gave the Twins a 7-6 triumph over the White Sox, Minnesota's sixth straight victory. Rob Wilfong began the winning surge with a walk and was tripled home by Gary Ward.

Dave Engle followed with a single and after Mickey Hatcher sacrificed, Kevin Hickey replaced Ed Farmer on the hill for the Pale Hose. Hickey walked Butch Wynegar and was derricked in favor of LaMarr Hoyt who, after getting the second out, walked Hosken Powell to load the bases. Hrbek then delivered his game-winning hit.
