The Angels snapped their eight-game losing streak by outlasting the Rangers, 8-7 in 12 innings. The game was tied at 7-7 when Dan Ford began the botttom of the 12th with an infield hit, reached second on a wild pitch and advanced to third as Bobby Grich grounded out. After an intentional walk to Ed Ott, Juan Beniquez lofted a sacrifice fly to right.

The victory was marred when Rod Carew collided with Billy Sample in the top of the 12th and was carried from the field on a stretcher. His injury was diagnosed as a mild concussion. Sample was shaken up but was able to walk off the field. [The Sporting News]
