A three-run pinch-homer by Benny Ayala in the top of the ninth inning enabled the Orioles to prevail over the Indians, 7-6. The Birds trailed, 4-3, when Terry Crowley began the winning rally with a single. Mike Stanton replaced Tom Brennan on the hill for Cleveland and was touched for a single by John Lowenstein and an RBI double by Doug DeCinces.
