. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Scoring seven runs in the eighth inning after two were out and nobody on base, the Red Sox posted an 8-5 triumph over the Yankees. It was the first Bosox win over the Yanks at Fenway Park since 1979.

The winning surge began when Jim Rice stroked a two-out single. After Carl Yastrzemski walked, a single by Carney Lansford plated Rice. Dave Stapleton followed with an RBI double and Lansford scored when right fielder Reggie Jackson misplayed the ball. After Tony Perez walked, a pinch-single by Joe Rudi tied the game. Rick Miller then blasted a three-run homer to climax the outburst. [The Sporting News]
