Homers by Hubie Brooks and Dave Kingman backed the six-hit pitching of Pete Falcone as the Mets defeated the Cardinals, 6-2. The Mets scored three runs in their first turn at bat on a sacrifice fly by Mike Howard and two-run round tripper by Brooks. Kingman clouted a three-run blast in the sixth stanza.
