. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A three-run double by Steve Kemp capped a four-run ninth inning that lifted the Tigers to a 5-1 triumph over the Indians and enabled Detroit to regain first place in the A.L. East. With the game tied, 1-1, Ricky Peters opened the ninth with a walk and was forced at second by Lynn Jones.

Jones reached second on Richie Hebner's pinch-single and scored the tie-breaking tally on a double by Lou Whitaker. One out later, a walk to Kirk Gibson loaded the bases and Kemp followed with a two-bagger that cleared the sacks. [The Sporting News]
