Completing the three-game series sweep, the Mets edged the Cardinals, 7-6, as Mookie Wilson, whose error allowed the Cardinals to take a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth inning, clouted a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to win the game. The Mets had two out and nobody on when Frank Taveras cracked a double, and Wilson followed by belting a 3-1 serve from Bruce Sutter over the right field fence. [The Sporting News]
