A two-run rally in the top of the ninth inning enabled the Brewers to outlast the Red Sox, 10-8, in a see-saw game. With the score 8-8, Jim Gantner began the ninth with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Charlie Moore. Robin Yount doubled to score Gantner and Ted Simmons followed with another two-bagger the scored Yount.

The Brewers had taken an 8-7 lead in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Cecil Cooper and two-run homer by Simmons, but the Sox tied the game in the bottom of that frame on a run-scoring single by Jim Rice. [The Sporting News]
