An eight-run explosion in the seventh inning lifted the Red Sox to an 11-5 triumph over the Brewers. Trailing, 4-3, entering the bottom of the seventh, the Sox loaded the bases on a single by Jim Rice and walks to Carl Yastrzemski and Carney Lansford. A walk to Dave Stapleton tied the score and Reggie Cleveland relieved Jamie Easterly for Milwaukee.

Tony Perez struck out but Gary Allenson swatted a grand slam. Rick Miller then drilled a two-bagger and Cleveland left in favor of Jerry Augustine. Jerry Remy walked and reliever Dwight Bernard came on to be greeted by Dwight Evans' RBI single. Rice then walked to load the bases and Yastrzemski smacked a two-run single. [The Sporting News]
