Steve McCatty became the league's second 14-game winner and recorded his 15th complete game as the A's won over the White Sox, 5-1. The A's scored twice in the second inning. Mickey Klutts singled, Kelvin Moore tripled him home for his first major league extra-base hit and RBI, and Jeff Newman delivered a sacrifice fly.
