A four-run first inning sent the Indians on their way to a 7-5 victory over the Red Sox. The Tribe's first-frame markers came on an RBI single by Toby Harrah, run-scoring groundout by Ron Hassey and two-run single by Rick Manning.

The Indians added singletons on run-scoring singles by Hassey in the third, Harrah in the fifth and Mike Hargrove in the seventh. Dan Spillner pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to notch his seventh save. [The Sporting News]
