A three-run rally in the seventh inning lifted the Cardinals to a 5-3 decision over the Pirates. The Redbirds trailed, 3-2, when pinch-hitter Steve Braun began the bottom of the seventh with a walk. Braun reached second on a sacrifice by Bob Forsch, went to third on a groundout and came home on a single by Garry Templeton.

Keith Hernandez then hit a long fly to center that went off Omar Moreno's glove for a triple as the go-ahead run scored, and George Hendrick followed with a single. Bruce Sutter hurled the final two frames to notch his 24th save. [The Sporting News]
