Jeff Leonard drove in five runs and Jerry Martin plated the winning marker as the Giants edged the Padres, 6-5. Leonard drilled a two-run homer in the first inning and a three-run triple in the fifth. With the score tied, 5-5 in the eighth, Larry Herndon stroked a two-out single, went to second on a balk and scored the go-ahead marker on a single by Martin. [The Sporting News]
