. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The White Sox swept a doubleheader from the A's, winning the first game, 9-5, and the second game, 10-3. The Sox came back from a 5-0 deficit in the lidlifter after the A's tied an A.L. record with eight consecutive singles to start the bottom of the first inning. LaMarr Hoyt, who took over the Pale Hose pitching after the first five hits, went the rest of the way to stop the A's and earn the victory. The Sox went ahead in the sixth stanza on two-run homers by Chet Lemon and Tony Bernazard.

Harold Baines belted a three-run homer in the first inning of the nightcap and Wayne Nordhagen added a solo blast in the same frame. Lemon and Carlton Fisk crashed consecutive homers in the fifth and Fisk added a two-run blast in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
