Tom Seaver and Mike LaCoss combined on a five-hitter as the Reds posted a 4-2 decision over the Braves. Seaver had to retire with a strained muscle in his right thigh after five frames and LaCoss came on to hurl three-hit ball over the final four. The Reds scored three runs in the second inning. Ray Knight led off with a double and Ron Oester and Paul Householder walked to load the sacks. Ken Griffey then cleared the bases with a two-bagger. [The Sporting News]
