Starring both at the plate and on the mound, Steve Rogers led the Expos to a 3-0 whitewashing of the Phillies as Montreal captured the N.L. East Division Series by taking the decisive fifth game. The Expos scored twice in the fifth inning. Larry Parrish opened with a single and Tim Wallach walked. Chris Speier forced Wallach. Jerry Manuel then drew a walk to load the bases and Rogers followed with a two-run single. Parrish added an RBI double in the sixth to complete the scoring. 

Rogers was in complete control throughout. The Phils' biggest threat came in the sixth stanza when they placed runners on first and third with one out, but Rogers induced Mike Schmidt to bounce into a double play. [The Sporting News]
