Yielding just five singles, Ray Burris pitched the Expos to a 3-0 shutout of the Dodgers, enabling Montreal to square the best-of-five N.L. Championship Series at one game apiece. With one out in the second inning, Larry Parrish and Jerry White stroked singles off Dodgers starter Fernando Valenzuela. Warren Cromartie followed with a double that scored Parrish and sent White to third. After Chris Speier walked to fill the bases and Burris struck out, Tim Raines' single scored White. Cromartie also tried to score on the play but was cut down at the plate on Pedro Guerrero's strong throw.

The Expos picked up another run in the sixth on singles by Andre Dawson and Gary Carter and Dusty Baker's throwing error. The Dodgers had men on first and third with one out in the sixth but Steve Garvey bounced into a double play. Los Angeles placed runners on first and second with one out in the ninth but Speier made a spectacular catch of Guerrero's liner and doubled Garvey off second to end the game. [The Sporting News]
