. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Taking advantage of Gaylord Perry's wildness, the A's scored five runs in the fifth inning to down the Mariners, 5-3. Dave McKay began the bottom of the fifth by reaching safely when catcher Jim Essian was unable to handle a wild third strike by Perry.

Jim Spencer then walked and Jeff Newman followed with an RBI double. After an infield single by Rob Picciolo loaded the bases, Perry uncorked two wild pitches, allowing Spencer and Newman to score. An RBI groundout by Dwayne Murphy and RBI single by Tony Armas completed Oakland's scoring. [The Sporting News]
