Two homers by Tony Armas powered the A's to a 7-5 victory over the Twins in 12 innings. Armas' first round-tripper led off the eighth inning and tied the score at 5-5. Then in the 12th with Cliff Johnson aboard via a two-out single, Armas drilled the ball over the fence in right-center. A two-run double by Kent Hrbek had given the Twins a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Jeff Jones pitched hitless relief over the final three frames to earn the decision. [The Sporting News]
