A fielder's choice grounder by Gary Matthews and a three-run homer by Luis Aguayo highlighted a four-run 13th inning as the Phillies outlasted the Mets, 8-4. Rookie righthander Charlie Puleo intentionally walked Pete Rose before losing Greg Gross on another base on balls, loading the bases. The Mets then failed to turn a double play on a grounder to third baseman Hubie Brooks as the go-ahead run crossed the plate.
