. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Ron Guidry pitched his first complete game in two seasons as the Yankees pounded the Tigers, 10-2. New York scored twice in the first inning on an RBI single by Dave Revering and run-scoring double by Lou Piniella.

The Yanks tallied five unearned runs in the second as first baseman Enos Cabell dropped an infield pop-up and pitcher Pat Underwood mishandled a tapper back to the mound. The Yanks got three more runs in the eighth on singles by Willie Randolph, Jerry Mumphrey and Ken Griffey and a two-run single by Graig Nettles. [The Sporting News]
